Streching our helping hand for Rohingya refugees

| The most saturated and oft-repeated tragedy of 2017 is Rohingya. Whether you call it ethnic cleansing or genocide, it's a brutal process of taking human life systematically. The worst official killing is happening in front of us! The emergency situation in Rakhine State is continuously worsening after reports of violent clashes that have resulted in over thousands of Rohingya Muslims butchered, raped and killed.Only possible escape was Bangladesh, just a skinny finger of water separation from Myanmar. Without surprise, almost .6 million Rohingya Muslim fled to Bangladesh only to keep their breath going without any threat. 80% of these refugees are women and children. The Rohingya Muslims are basically a stateless minority group in Myanmar Burma for a long time and grave human rights abuses by authorities for decades. But, systematic the persecution has reached to its crest in July-August of 2017. The ongoing conflict has created an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and they are in desperate need of shelter, food, water, also medical attention and every basic necessity a breathing human might in need of. More importantly they are looking up to Bangladesh, and the irony is it's already one of the most populated countries with low income people. So not many choice left but try out the obvious call of humanity. Indeed with proud to acknowledge that many of us already come forward every their possible means to lessen the big load from government's shoulder. Members at Serve The People are equally touched! We are desperate to offer our helping hand! We make sure every single penny you contributed go directly to Rohingya refugees. No high logistic expenses like big organizations. So our very limited help we went to Borochan Khola. But it was only possible for “First Aid Foundation,†another non-profit organization silently working for distressed people. Indeed our support was very small compare to the need, but our effort is continuous. On September 29- October 2nd, our combined team of first relief trip, traveled to one of the most rural areas of Bangladesh, Borochan Khola. No proper road reached there yet.No vehicle can ride in this raw mud and water. Almost75000 refugee crammed here. Barely can claim as human. On the way to Chokoria-Cox’s bazar, we reached Naikkham chari and from there walked for three kilometer carrying all the relief goods on the shoulders with the help of local labors. Our combined effort allowed us only three trucks support - 10 metric ton rice , 500 kg sugar, 500 kg salt, 500kg flatrice, soyabean oil, kerosene oil, kerosene lamp and 200 umbrellas to serve the distressed people. To make the distribution organized and chaos free, BGB officers kept the census and insisted us to distribute through them. All is could support is only 1700 people there. But it revealed us the unaltered reality and reminded us our responsibility. As mentioned,our support could be small but our effort is continuous. Come join us and be apart of it. |
